Your Green Baby

I’m so happy to introduce you to Kim. She owns Your Green Baby
We will be posting lots of interesting articles and recipes from Kim. She also has some great workshops that are local so stay tuned for dates of upcoming workshops.

Your Green Baby is a place for mom, baby and toddler. We offer a variety of services to meet the nutritional needs of mom, baby and toddler. We help guide your preconception, pregnancy and postnatal nutritional care and provide nutritional care to your baby and toddler. We offer support and guidance through personal one-on-one consultations and dynamic, interactive workshops and cooking classes.

Your Green Baby workshops are an excellent way to gain information and confidence in a group setting with other likeminded moms and dads. Workshop topics include: Nutrition for New Moms, Power Up Your Breast Milk, Making Your Own Baby Food, Starting Solids, Feeding Your Toddler and Healthy Mommy = Healthy Baby. These workshops will give you the confidence and knowledge you need to feed your baby for optimum health and well being.

Your Green Baby also offers Made by Mommy Cooking Workshops. This is a hands-on cooking workshop where you make batches of healthy organic meals to take home to your baby or toddler. All equipment, organic ingredients and recipes are provided, participants just show up ready to cook.

Your Green Baby has some exciting new additions coming in the fall. The first will be phone and online consultations. This will be a wonderful opportunity for moms and dads from across Canada to consult with Your Green Baby about nutrition for mom, baby or toddler. Second will be conference call seminars. This provides another opportunity for moms and dads that do not live within reach of Your Green Baby to gain access to the valuable information presented at workshops. Conference call seminars take place at a specified time and callers listen from the comfort of their own home on the phone. Third is the new book Raising Happy Healthy Babies, which owner Kim Corrigan Oliver is currently writing and has set a goal of October for its release.

Your Green Baby is owned by Kim Corrigan-Oliver, a practicing Certified Nutritional Practitioner, graduating from The Institute of Holistic Nutrition with First Class Honours. She is proud to be a professional member of the International Organization of Nutritional Consultants earning the designations of Registered Nutritional Consulting Practitioner and Registered Orthomolecular Health Practitioner.

Kim is dedicated to inspiring and motivating moms and dads to make informed decisions regarding their child’s health and wellness through one-on-one consultations and dynamic, interactive workshops and cooking classes.

Gettin’ crafty

My 2.5-year-old, Lucy, goes to a wonderful home daycare three days a week, spends one day with her Nana (my Mom), and one special Lucy-Mama-House-Day.

We try to either get out for some shopping or lunch or special snack (she loves “Hortons” for a muffin!) or do a craft together.

The Internet is a goldmine of arts and crafts sites, and I’ve shared our favourites on a new links page called Crafts & Blogs. Check them out!

MaryP’s recent craft post on making trees using all the beautiful falling leaves inspired Lucy and I’s creation yesterday. My tree trunk and sky aren’t as pretty as hers, but we love it just the same!

New links!

Spent some time today updating our resource pages, an ongoing mission.

There’s a brand new page with interesting day care reads, including a recent CBC report and Statistics Canada numbers.

Under links for providers, look car seat safety websites for traveling with kids.

And there are tons of places to play and visit under local stuff to do.

Enjoy! And please email or leave a comment with any of your favourite and regular sites.

What to ask, look for when searching for childcare

Oh, the excruciating process of interviewing childcare providers. In our search for home, or “family”, care for Lucy, I interviewed more than a dozen providers either in person or on the phone.

(I’ve been writing about Lucy and our family’s wonderful (and sometimes wacky and sad) childcare searches and experiences — with Daycare Debbie, Julia and Shelby — for years. Read it here.)

Although absolutely necessary when looking for the special person (or centre) to be, almost, your surrogate, it doesn’t make it any less stressful.

Just like interviewing for a job, one of the most helpful tips I read about before beginning the search was to be prepared and know exactly the questions to ask a potential provider.

There’s a wealth of information for parents online, often broken down by type of childcare, too. Here are our favourites:
